Week #5 Thing #11

I examined Facebook since I know so many students use this and I was genuinely curious.  I can see how addictive it could be.  I think it would be a great tool and really allow people to stay in contact.  I created an account and looked up many people but didn't go any further.  I plan to go back later and try to connect with some of my students who have gone on to college.    I also joined the Teacher-Librarian Ning and enjoyed reading the forums and looking a the pictures and videos.  I need to get involved by commenting and collecting friends but I haven't had time to delve into any one of these features in any depth.

Here's my image.  There are lots of options.  I need to play around with these more.
I created this at ImageChef   http://www.imagechef.com/

Week #4 Thing #9

I am still overwhelmed with all the choices.  I found that it was best to add my local newspaper feed and a few other news feeds that I like.  I also found some feeds through  LM_NET postings.  I am also looking for  feeds mentioned in my reading.

Week #4 Thing #8

Wow, I'm a bit overwhelmed.  There are so many feeds to look at.  I think I've subscribed to too many.  I actually deleted some of them.  I'm attending a Web 2.0 workshop in Chester VA on Monday and using this 23 Things sight to get me ready.  I am amazed at how much there is to this topic.  I'm not sure how I would use RSS feeds beyond my personal use.,but I'm sure I'll get good ideas from other librarians in  the workshop.  I hope to share what I learn with my staff this coming school year.

Week #3 Thing #7

Oh where to begin.  I really want to explore how I can use blogging or wikis to promote reading and collaboration in my school.  There is only one teacher in my building who is using these technologies and together I think we can spread the use of these tools.   Our school system is a little reluctant to embrace these, but we can try to move them along!

What fun! There are so many applications -- and so little time. I don't have many pics available so far so my creativity is a bit limited. I hope to download more photos tomorrow so I can PLAY!!!

Wow - I'm Flickred out! I'm on summer break so I couldn't get a shot of my library. So--I found this shot of the Library of Congress, which I think is the most beautiful building in DC. I had heard of Flickr but never explored it. Quite impressive. I created a free account and added a couple of photos including one I e-mailed from my cell phone. It's getting late. I could spend hours on Flickr but I need sleep!

Week #1 Thing #1& #2

The habit that would be the hardest for me is "beginning with with an end in mind."  I'm much better at seeing the trees rather than the forrest.  Having "23 things" to do may help me get to the big picture.  The thing I will find the easiest is sharing with others.  It's what I do as a media specialist, and I love helping people meet their goals.  I'll try to work on determining my goal so I stay on track.   And I can't wait to share what I learn with my patrons.

Week #2 Thing #4

Here I am!  What do you think?  The cat is my granimal, Frankenstein, or Frankie for short.  He belongs to my daughter, Jenj.  Couldn't find a little black dog with issues to be Peppers my other granimal.  It's after 1:00a.m.  This little project kept me up later than I planned.  Later,
